A three days training programme on “Sustainable Management of Soil and Water Conservation Interventions through FPO's and Institutional Arrangement” was organised during 8-10 November, 2023 at ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun. Twenty five (25) farmers of SAS Nagar District of Punjab State participated in the programme. Process of the organisation of FPO's and its functional aspects its sustainability, institutional arrangements and water user association, natural and organic farming interventions and importance of vegetative measures for soil and water conservation in changing climate scenario will be included in the course content of the training programme.
Dr. M. Madhu, Director of the Institute was the Chief Guest for the function stated the need of adoption of learnt knowledge by the participating farmers in their villagers and its sharing with the other farmers of their area was emphasised. Dr. Madhu in his introductory speech strengthen the mission of natural resource management in the country.
Dr. Charan Singh, Head of HRD&SS Division in his welcome address detailed about the Importance of FPO's & Institutional arrangement to the marginal farmers for doubling their income and improvement in the agricultural crop production for better marketing through FPO's . The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Matber Singh Rana, Senior Scientist and Sh. Suresh Kumar, Chief Technical Officer of the Institute. Scientists of HRD&SS division Dr Lekhchand and Dr Indu Rawat contributed a lot for successful organisation of the training programme besides the support provided by team HRD&SS which includes Sh. Suresh Kumar, Sh. K.R. Joshi, Smt. Lata Bhanwar, Sh. Dharmpal and Sh. Kamal Kishore were also presented in the Inauguration programm
