ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Ballari Celebrated World Water Day at Government Higher School, Sridharagadda village on 22nd March, 2024. The programme was chaired by Dr. B.Krishna Rao, Head of Centre in the presence of Chief guest Shri. Gunda Acharya, Principle of the School and Sh. Manjunatha, village leader. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ravi Dupdal, Sr. Scientist (Agril. Econ.) & Ms. Anusha, N.M. Scientist, (Fruit Sci.). The programme was actively participated by all the school children. During the programme, Essay competition on the topic “Importance of water” was organized among the school children. Later, all the guests addressed the school children about the importance of water and created awareness among young minds. Dr. B. S Naik, Principal Scientist (SWCE), educated the participants about water availability, its present usage and significance of water for human life. Dr. B.Krishna Rao addressed the students regarding the importance of World Water Day and its history behind celebration and told that it is celebrated to create awareness among public for conservation and judicious use of water. Further, Dr. Rao also sensitized the students for efficient management of water both in terms of quality as well as quantity in order to preserve the water for the future generaton. During the event, prizes were distributed to students who secured 1st, IInd and IIIrd position in essay competition, and Pledge for World Water Day was also administered by all the participants for conserving and judicious use of precious water. At the end, formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ravi Dupdal, Sr. Scientist (Agril. Econ.). The programme was assisted by Sh. Abhishek Kumar, Technician. A total of 80 members participated in the programme including office staff.
World Water Day was celebrated today on 22/03/2024 with the theme of “Using Water for Peace” at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Datia. On this occasion, Head of the Center Dr. Ramkishore Patel gave detailed information about water conservation and measures in Bundelkhand region to 43 boys and girls of Bhaskar Public School and Bhaskar Government School of Datia district. Dr. K. Rajan, scientist of the center, gave detailed information to the students and students about soil and water erosion, process and types of erosion, causes of erosion and its prevention and management. On the occasion of World Water Day, Dr. Dinesh Kumar enlightened the students by giving detailed information on food security, climate change and poverty alleviation. School teachers Mr. Harishankar Kushwaha and Mr. Tarun Srivastava also informed all the boys and girls present in the program about World Water Day. Technical Assistant Er. Gautam Singh and Mr. Anil Kumar Dohra coordinated the program. Also taught the students to test soil samples in the soil laboratory. At the end of the program, Technical Officer Shri Bhagwan Das Kushwaha took the students on a tour of the agricultural meteorological laboratory located at the center and provided detailed information about the various types of instruments installed in the meteorological laboratory.
ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (IISWC), Research Centre, Udhagamandalam celebrated World Water Day- 2024 with the theme # Water for Peace at the Gell Memorial School, Fernhill, Ooty, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu on Friday, March 22, 2024. The program was organized to create awareness on conservation of water and natural resources to make water a catalyst for a more peaceful world among the young minds. The programme was attended by 80 students from the Class-IX and the scientists and technical personal of the Research Centre. During the programme, Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman, Head & Principal Scientist, ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Ooty sensitized the students on the various water conservation technologies and inspired them to take the measures to save the water for the posterity. Following to this all Scientists of the Centre interacted with the students and created awareness about the importance of water and its conservation. An elocution competition was conducted on the theme topic “Water for peace” in which 10 students had participated. At the valedictory function, the winners were awarded with the prizes by the Head of the Centre and other delegates. The programme was ended with a message of Action for water is action for peace.
