An Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) on processing of fruits and vegetables was organized at village Kulhara, Kathar gram panchayat, Kalsi block, Dehradun during 9-13 September 2024 under SCSP. The programme was organized in collaboration with KVIC, Dehradun. Sh Pradeep Mal from KVIC and Sh Rajender Sajwan from Horticulture department, Uttarakhand, demonstrated various techniques to process the fruits and vegetables. The five days training included the lectures and practicals on preparation of various value-added food products like processing of amla into marmalade, pickle, jam and jelly from papaya, apple, mixed pickles, chutney etc. The programme was successfully attended by 40 farmers of different Self-Help Groups of the adopted villages under SCSP. They were very much motivated after learning hands on practicals on preparation of various value-added products. After this training, they are now able to prepare the products on their own and it will help them to earn additional income in near future. They were also briefed about various standard and localized marketing strategies to make big business on sustainable basis.
