ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and organized one week programme concluded under 150th birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji on October 02, 2020
ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation (IISWC), Dehradun celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji on 2nd October 2020. The programme was started with ICAR song and showering flowers to the photo of Gandhi Ji. On this occasion, Director of the Institute, Dr R S Yadav addressed and insisted all to take inspiration from the life of Mahatma Gandhi Ji. He said that people should be loyal and responsible to their works. There is an urgent need to follow the path shown by our father of nation. The programme was graced by the presence of all the Heads of the Divisions, Dr N K Sharma, Dr P R Ojasvi, Dr Harsh Mehta and Dr Bankey Bihari.
During the week long celebrations under 150th birth anniversary of father of nation, various competitions were also organized like debate competition on ‘water conservation and management’, debate on ‘Should Yoga practice be compulsory for Govt. employees’, quiz competitions on ‘Swachhta’ and discussion on ‘Relevance of Gandhi Ideology in today’s contest’. One special lecture on Gandhian Philosophy was also delivered by Sh. S K Gajmoti, CAO of the institute. Besides, one painting and essay competition was also organized for the school students. All the winners of these competitions were felicitated with certificates and prizes.
The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr Indu Rawat, Scientist (SS) and Nodal Officer of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The programme was virtually coordinated by Er.SS Shrimali, Sr. Scientist and his team. The programme was ended with formal vote of thanks by Dr Indu Rawat.
