A full day Hindi workshop was organized on 26.12.24 to make all the scientists, officers and employees of the Institute Headquarters aware about the Official Language Rules and to provide information about the Hindi e-tools useful in doing government work in Hindi on the computer. In this workshop, former Deputy General Manager and Official Language Officer of ONGC, Shri Gyanendra Kumar and Assistant Director (Official Language) of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, Shri Shankar Sharma were present as the main trainers. This workshop was organized in two sessions in Dr. V.V. Dhruv Narayan Seminar Room (Seminar Hall).
In the first session, Dr. Gyanendra Kumar presented a very comprehensive and detailed statement through PPT about the popularity of Hindi language on the global stage, the identity of Hindi in the United Nations, Macaulay's education policy and its impact, National Education Policy 2020, Official Language Act 1963, and all the Official Language Rules. The second session was a practical session in which information about useful e-tools for working in Hindi on computer was given along with their practical demonstration.
In this session, the main speaker Mr. Shankar Sharma provided practical information about the Kanthastha Anuvaad e-tool developed by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Anuvaadini e-tool developed by the Ministry of Education to all the participants and also made the participants personally practice translation on these tools. This greatly increased the interest of the participants towards Hindi tools.
In the second session itself, a memory based quiz written test was organized for all the participants in which Ms. Vidya Chanu got the first position, Mrs. Neha Dobhal got the second position and Mrs. Lata Bhanwar got the third position. All these winning participants were rewarded by giving gifts by the Director of the Institute, Dr. M. Madhu and the guest speakers.
In his presidential address at the end of the workshop, the Director, Dr. M. Madhu thanked the guest speakers for their informative speeches and practical guidance and said that such Hindi workshops are very useful for the progressive use of Hindi in government work.
