ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC), Dehradun celebrated the Kisan Diwas on December 23, 2022 at ICAR-IISWC Research Farm, Selakui, Dehradun under the Swachhata Pakhwada programme.Dr. A.C. Rathore, Principal Scientist, presented a brief on the significance of the Kisan Diwas while welcoming the participants. Dr. Lekh Chand Principal Scientist delivered a lecture on natural farming and its relevance to the present scenario. He also discussed about the use and preparation of components of natural farming like Jeevamrut, Beejamrut, and Ghanamrut.
The progressive farmers Shri. Satish Kumar and Smt. Krishna Devi was the chief guest and they shared their view about the contribution of the institute under the TSP project in their villages and socio-economic upliftment. They also emphasized the need for FPO (Farmer’s product organization) in our country and motivated the farmers to join the FPO. IFFCO trainee discussed the merits and application of nano urea by giving a demonstration to the farmers at the research farm.
Dr. Charan Singh, In-charge Director narrated the inspirations of Late Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, and his efforts for the development of farmers. The programme also included the research farm field visit, drone demonstration, and distribution of saplings to the farmers. Dr. M Sankar, Senior Scientist and OIC (Farm) proposed a formal vote of thanks.The programme was attended by around 130 participants including 60 farmers and 70 scientists and other staff of the Institute.
