ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation organized 5 days programme during December 26-30, 2022 on Soil and Water Conservation and Management for field officers of Divisional Soil Conservation officers’ Training Institute SAS Nagar Mohali, Punjab. The programme was focused on Conservation and Management of Natural Recourses, comprised with various demonstration cum practical’s on aspects of resource conservation watershed management and theory classes on resent advances of mechanical measures and biological measures for resource conservation, water harvesting, recycling and other important components of watershed management. In this training programme, 14 surveyors and 2 Agriculture Sub Inspectors participated from different divisions of Punjab.
During the feedback session, trainees highlighted importance and practical application of the training in their field work.
In his address, Dr. M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun stressed upon survey work related to exiting practices of Soil and Water Conservation in different parts of the state and development entrepreneurship among the farmers through different user groups. He requested to the trainees to connect with farmers at village level and create awareness on scientific management of natural resources to achieve sustainability and profitability.
