Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas or Tribal Pride Day, was celebrated today at Nuaguda village of Koraput district by ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation & RC, Sunabeda in collaboration with MS. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Jeypore to honour the tribal freedom fighter, Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. An awareness programme was organised to celebrate this occasion.
Dr. Karthik Lenka (Scientist, MSSRF) welcomed the guest of the event Dr. P. Raja, Actg. Head, IISWC & RC , Koraput. Dr. Raja stated that the Birsa Munda’s name always stands tall for his role in bringing the land mark for the protection of tribal rights. He also added that the tribal education is one of the primary agents of transformation towards development. Sh. G. B. Naik, ACTO also marked his gratitude to the tribal people for their presence at the event. The tribal community people also performed group songs and dance. During programme scientists discuss the preparation and installation of Bio-input Production Unit. Dr. Karthik Lenka coordinated the programme and appreciated the active participation of the tribal people and urged them to preserve their cultural heritage. Research fellows, Project assistant, field assistant and volunteers were also participated in the programme.
