ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Ballari organized a World Environment Day” on 5th June, 2023 at B. Belagallu village in Ballari taluk of Ballari district. The programme was attended by farmers and school childrens of the village. During the programme all the participants were welcomed by Dr. Ravi Dupdal, Sr. Sci. (Ag.Econ.) & Coordinator of the programme.
He explained the main objectives of the programme and sensitized the farmers about World Environment Day. Dr. M.N. Ramesha, Scientist (Forestry) explained brief history and importance of celebration of programme and also explained consequences of use of plastics in daily life. Dr. B.S Naik P.Sci (SWC Engg.) explained about importance of environment and its protection for future generation. Dr. M.Prabhavathi, Sr. Sci (Soils) & Head of the Centre explained about soil health management and its testing for increasing crop yields and also maintaining soil fertility. As a part of programme, farmers and school childrens were distributed horticulture plant (lime) for plantation. At the end, Dr. Ravi Dupdal proposed formal vote of thanks. The programme was assisted by Mr. Mohan Kumar, Technical Officer, Mr. Abhishek Kumar, T-1 and Mr. Ravichandra, TO (VD). The program was participated by 46 including farmers, school childrens and staff members.
