One day training programme on “Resource conservation and agroforestry technologies for the improvement of rural livelihood security” has been organized at Hangaladahosahalli village, Gundlupet Tq. Chamarajanagar, Karnataka by ICAR- IISWC Research Centre, Udhagamandalamon 17th February 2021 under Schedule Caste Sub-Plan programme. Dr. H.C. Hombe Gowda, Coordinator of the programme welcomed the gathering and briefed about the SCSP activities taken at Hangaladahosahalli village. During the occasion Dr. Hombe Gowda had delivered lecture on role of forests and trees in conserving soil and water, and suitable agroforestry techniques for the rainfed dry regions of southern Karnataka. Dr. K. Kannan, Head, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam inaugurated the training programme and briefed about the present requirement of adoption of conservation techniques for protecting our natural resources and to improve crop productivity. Headof the Centrealso briefed the SC farmers about soil and water conservation technologies developed by Ooty research centre and informed farmers to approach research centre, for getting technical guidance pertaining to soil and water conservation problems.
Dr. V Kasthuri Thilagam, Scientist explain the importance of soil, soil health card and action taken to prevent soil loss. Dr H.C. Hombe Gowda, Organizing Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.During the occasion scientist created awareness on cleanness and prevention to be taken to control COVID 19 spread. About more than 100 members consisting Schedule caste farmers, women SHG group and school children’s participated in this training programme.
