A large-scale Animal Health Camp was organized by ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun, on 7th January 2025, at Sundaraya village, Khatar Gram Panchayat, Kalsi block, Dehradun, under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP). The program commenced with an inauguration by Dr. Indu Rawat, Senior Scientist and Team Leader of SCSP, who warmly welcomed the team and the farmers. Dr. Rawat emphasized the importance of organizing such camps, particularly for farmers who face challenges in accessing veterinary clinics located in distant areas. By bringing these services to their doorstep, local farmers can receive essential support.
During the camp, Dr. Manish Patel, a veterinary doctor from the Government Veterinary Hospital, Sahaspur, Dehradun, engaged with the farmers to address their concerns related to animal husbandry, primarily focusing on goats, cows, and poultry. His session was highly beneficial, as farmers were able to discuss and resolve various challenges concerning the health and management of these animals.
As part of the event, essential medicines, feed supplements, and mineral blocks for animals were distributed to the beneficiaries. The program was coordinated by Dr. Indu Rawat and Dr. Sadikul Islam, with valuable support from Mr. Rakesh Kumar, CTO, and Mr. Suresh Kumar, CTO. The success of the event was largely attributed to the dedicated efforts of Mr. Kamal Kishore and Mr. Dinesh Nautiyal.
Ms. Manita Bisht from the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) also participated in the camp. Approximately 100 farmers, including women and children, from the villages of Sundaraya, Kulhara, Kofti, Samaya, and Bhugtari in Kalsi block, Dehradun district, benefitted from the program.
This initiative was carried out under the guidance and support of Dr. M. Muruganandam, Principal Scientist (Fishery Science) and Officer-in-Charge of the PME and KM Unit, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun.
