The inaugural ceremony of Hindi Chetna Mas at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun. was organized on 02 September 2024.
In this ceremony, Professor Pooja Jain of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun was invited as the chief guest. Prof. Pooja Jain, with her experience-based speech, enlightened all the listeners as well as inspired them to work devotedly towards Hindi.
Expressing her views on the Hindi language, she referred to the quote of Bharatendu Babu Harishchandra -
“Vividh Kala Shiksha Amit, Gyan Anek Prakaar |
Sab Deshan Se Lai Karahu, Bhasha Mahi Prachar ||”
and called upon all scientists that it is their moral duty to acquire all the global knowledge and science even if they acquire it in English language but they should convey that knowledge to the general public through Hindi and other Indian languages. While discussing the tendency of the British rule to forcefully impose its language on the Indians, he mentioned Mahatma Gandhi, Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon and other great men whose efforts enabled Hindi to get the status of the official language of the Union Government in the Constitution of India. He praised the website of the Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, which is completely prepared and updated in Hindi, and thanked the Director. While discussing the provisions mentioned in the context of language in the “National Education Policy 2020”, he informed that Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun has started the work of studying/teaching higher education through the Hindi language and efforts are underway to create a separate department for the Garhwali language.
In his presidential address, the Director of the Institute, Dr. M. Madhu said that India is a country where the form of dialects keeps changing at every mile, where every state has different languages, the Hindi language works to connect everyone. It is the duty of all of us to do our work in Hindi language as much as possible. Today, when the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has given the call to re-establish India as the world leader in the field of modern knowledge and science, the importance of Hindi language increases even more because this dream can be realized only by taking the support of Hindi language.
On this occasion, the Deputy Director (Official Language) of the Institute, Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Tiwari presented a glimpse of the implementation and achievements of Official Language Hindi in the Institute through PPT. About 60 scientists, officers and employees of the Headquarters and Regional Research Centers participated in the inaugural ceremony.
