The International Women's Day was celebrated at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun and its various Research Centres on 8th of March, 2024. This year’s theme for International Women's Day was "Invest in women, accelerate progress". The progress of any society is heavily dependent on the progress and development of the women who are the torch bearers of the future. In an agrarian community like India the contribution of women work force is immense and note worthy. To acknowledge the women force’s work in the work space, in the farmer’s field and in the home front various events were organized.
At ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun by Director, Dr M. Madhu chaired the event. All Heads of Divisions, OIC, PME, Scientists, technical staff and administrative staff attended the program. Dr M. Madhu acknowledged the contribution of women in all walks of life and congratulated the entire women work force of ICAR-IISWC and conveyed his best wishes to everyone. Dr Charan Singh, Head, HRD&SS Division spoke about the rich culture of our country where women have always been synonymous to "Shakti". Investing in women in terms of time, money, education to build a better future was highlighted by Dr R.K. Singh, Head, H&E while Dr JMS Tomar, Head Plant Science Division signified that conserving soil and water was also a way of paying respect to women. Dr D V Singh Head SS&A rightly pointed out how the Institute strives to maintain equality across the different sections of staff in the working front. Mrs Kamla Bargali, DDO shared her thoughts on Women's Day and urged all ladies to think equal in order to achieve equality. The Institute felicitated all women staff on this occasion. The entire event was coordinated by Dr Trisha Roy, Nodal Officer for the program with assistance from Sh Sanjay Pant, AAO under the guidance of Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun and Dr D V Singh, Head, SSA. Sh Ajeet Rana, Sh Kamal Kishore and Sh Vivek Dhiman extended full support in the successful conduction of the program.
ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Kota celebrated International Women’s Day where Dr Shakir Ali, head of the centre highlighted the role of women in science, research and development work. Dr I. Rashmi, coordinator of the programme, shed light on the contribution of farm women and their contribution to agriculture production. Dr S.Kala, Senior Scientist (Agroforestry) discussed the role of women in environmental issues and climate change. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Ms Chaithra T.S.
ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Agra organized a programme on 8 March, 2024 at Shyam Sundar IIT Mandi Samiti, Agra. Shri Bhagwati Prasad, Chief Technical Officer welcomed the ladies on behalf of the centre. Shri. A K Nitant Assistant Chief Technical Officer explained the need & importance of Women’s Day. Shri.Yatendra Pal Singh, Manager Shyam Sundar IIT briefed about their institute. Smt. Rekha Sharma described about programme presently running by government. She asked all the ladies to get advantage of the programmes. On this day Smt. Bhawana Dixit first female bus driver in Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Sangeeta Chauhan Teacher, Smt. Kamlesh Raghuvanshi Home Maker, Miss Nikita Chauhan computer expert working youth and revered Shakuntala Devi were honored. About 50 women participated in the programme. Vote of thanks was given by Shri B P Joshi Assistant Chief Technical Officer.
ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam organized International Women’s Day with the theme #InspireInclusion. The program was organized to raise awareness about gender equality (social, economic and political), women's rights, reproductive rights, gender violence, and abuses against women. During the first part of the program, Mrs. Blessy V.A welcomed all the staffs of centre and highlighted the significance of celebrating the International Women’s Day. As a part of the celebration, all the women staff of centre was felicitated and has motivated by the Dr Somasundaram Jayaraman, Head of the Centre and highlighted the importance of women’s role in society upliftment and need to respect and promote women in all spheres. Following to this few staffs shared their experiences related to women empowerment. The programme ended with an insight “To keep a safe environment for every woman in the workplace”. All staffs of the centre participated in the programme. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Blessy V.A., and Dr Somasundaram Jayaraman.
