ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun inaugurated training program on the subject "Farmer Product Organization and Institutional Management for sustainable management of soil and water conservation measures" for 25 farmers of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
The training is conducted for 25 farmers during 01-03 November 2023. The training mainly aims to enhance the knowledge of farmers on creation of Farmer Product Organization (FPOs) so that the income of farming community can be increased and community institutions can be built for sustainable management of soil and water conservation measures. Various process of formation of FPOs and marketing of agricultural products by the organization, sustainable management of soil and water resources through institutional management, agroforestry measures for environmental protection and use of organic and natural farming methods for quality production in farming are covered in the training.
Dr. Charan Singh, course director and I/C Director of the institute, requested all the participating farmers to adopt the information and technologies covered in this training on their farms and also share it with other farmers of their area so that the country can progress in natural resource conservation and farming. The training is coordinated by Dr. Lekh Chand, Principal Scientist, Agronomy and Mr. Suresh Kumar, Chief Technical Officer.
Dr. Matabar Singh Rana, Dr. Indu Rawat Dr. Abimanyu Jhajharia, Mr. Anil Kumar, Mr. K.R. Joshi, Mrs. Lata Bhanwar, Mr. Dharampal, Mr. Kamal Kishore, Mr. Naresh Kumar and Miss Neha actively engaged in the program.
