ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Vasad organized a three days training programme on “Natural farming practices skill for Tribal Women Empowerment” under TSP for Panchmahal district from 11-13th September, 2024 at ICAR- KVK Panchmahal. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. R. Subbaiah Principal & Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, AAU, Godhra. In his chief guest’s address, Dr. R Subbaiah emphasized the importance of combining soil and water conservation measures and natural farming practices under climate change scenarios. Dr. A.K. Singh, Principal Scientist (SWCE) and former Head (A) of centre, expressed that there is need to train participants from different age groups so that impact of training will be long lasting. The 40 participants were trained about Natural farming practices such as Jeevaamrit, ghana jeevamrutham, Neemastra and Brahmastra during three days. Team of scientists from Vasad (Dr. Gaurav Singh & Dr. Nandha Kumar N.), Dr. Kanak Lata Head of ICAR-KVK Panchmahal and her team (Dr. Shakthi Khajuria, Dr. J.K. Jadav, Mr. Abhishek Kumar & Mr. Y.N. Jadav) helped in successful organization of the programme. Dr. M.J. Kaledhonkar, Head, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Vasad was the chief guest for valedictory function and informed participants about benefits of natural farming. The Neemastra filled bottles were distributed to tribal women farmers. Dr. D. Dinesh, acted as course coordinator of this training programme.
