Dr. R. S. Yadav, Director and Sh. S.K. Gajmoti, Chief Administrative Officer visited ICAR - Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Chandigarh on 23rd and 24th January, 2021. On the first day, 23rd January, the Director along with CAO, Head of Centre, scientists and other staff of centre visited Research Farm, MDC, Panchkula. Dr. O.P.S. Khola, Head of the centre, briefed him about the most significant achievements of the centre in research, training and consultancy works related to soil and water conservation.
He also highlighted the ongoing activities of the centre and its impact on farmers. A meeting was also held with all officers and staff at research farm office. In afternoon, NABARD funded external research project site was visited at village Kasauli, SAS Nagar, Punjab. On 24th January morning Director and CAO along with head of the centre visited the Sukhomajri watershed, Haryana.
On the same day, in the adopted village under SCSP program (Khoi, Panchkula, Haryana), a training program of farmers was conducted and distribution of livelihood support and farm tools to beneficiaries was done in presence of director. The Director highly appreciated the efforts of the officers and staff of Centre for their contribution in all respects. During the visit, a number of relevant issues such as fencing of research farm, renovation of quarters in farm premises, servicing of old vehicles and issues related to casual labours were also discussed.
