ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam organized quarterly Hindi workshop on 28-12-2023. The programme was inaugurated with invocation song & lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Dr. Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Professor, Hindi & Protocol Officer, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, Maharashtra and Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman, Head of the Center. The workshop was on the contribution of different Indian languages in strengthening Hindi as an official language. Briefing about the center activities in Official language implementation was done by Dr. SM Vanitha, Senior Scientist and Hindi Officer (I/c). The chief guest in his address appreciated the efforts made by the center in practicing Hindi as an official language and also promoting tri-language in official use. He also said that the interest towards learning any language is a two-way process. He shared the background of establishment of an international Hindi University in India and the nature of work at the university. Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman in his address expressed the importance of all languages representing unity in diversity and also highlighted the use of tri-languages in official use. Around 25 participants attended the workshop and had discussion on various aspects relating to Official language implementation. The programme was coordinated by Dr. S. M. Vanitha, Sr. Sci. and Hindi Officer (I/c) and Shri. George John, Senior Technical Officer. The programme was ended with a formal vote of thanks.
