ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Kota celebrated Parthenium Awareness and Swachhta Diwas at adopted SCSP village Keririya, Bundi on 23rd August 2024. On this occasion, Dr Ashok Kumar, Principal Scientist pointed out that Parthenium is harmful to both livestock and human. So, before flowering stage parthenium should be eradicated from agricultural field by using suitable pesticides. Dr Kuldeep Kumar, Senior Scientist said that parthenium causes asthma and skin disorders in humans, so it is essential to keep in mind that parthenium shouldn't be grown in fields. The farmers interacted with the scientist and cleared their doubts related to weeds, livestock health and management of horticultural crops and also assured them for organizing an animal health camp very soon in the village. The women farmers expressed their interest related to training on their capacity building.
The program's coordinator, Dr. Gulshan Kumar Sharma, Scientist advised participants on the importance of cleanliness and being a responsible citizen for the nation's progress. He ends by thanking everyone for participating in the program.
