The staff of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC) in Dehradun came together to celebrate Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 with a solemn pledge to uphold ethical and transparent practices in their work. The week-long observance, which commenced on October 30th, 2023, aims to promote vigilance awareness and emphasize the significance of integrity and accountability in public life. This event is held across the country and encourages organizations and individuals to stay vigilant and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Dr. Charan Singh, Acting Director of ICAR-IISWC Dehradun, inaugurated the event by emphasizing the importance of vigilance and ethical behavior in the workplace. He stated, "In today's world, it is essential to maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics. Vigilance Awareness Week serves as a reminder to all of us to stay committed to these values."
In addition to the pledge-taking ceremony, Dr. J M S Tomar, Head, Plant Science and Vigilance officer discussed about the genesis of celebration of the day and informed the staff about various activities and awareness programs were organized throughout the week. These included webinars, lectures and various competitions to educate the staff about the importance of vigilance and the steps they can take to prevent corruption and unethical practices.
