On 21-06-2024, the 10th International Yoga Day was organized in a grand manner at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation Headquarters, Dehradun from 6:00 am. On the other hand, International Yoga Day programs were also organized at 8 research centres of the institute, in which about 300 people enthusiastically performed yoga at the institute headquarters and other centres of the institute.
On this occasion, the Director of the Institute, Dr. M. Madhu, while addressing all the scientists, officers, employees and trainees at the Headquarters in Dehradun, explained the importance of yoga in life. He told on this occasion that how life can be made happy and healthy through yoga. In the end, the program was concluded with light refreshments. In this program, Dr. Charan Singh (Head of Department –(HRD & SS), Mr. Girish Bhatt, C.A.O (Sr. Grade), Mr. H. N. Sharma (S.A.O), along with all the scientists, officers, employees and women, took part. This program was successfully conducted by Mr. Anil Kumar Chauhan (Chief Technical Officer).
10th International Yoga Day- Festival of Yoga and Wellbeing” celebrated at Research Farm ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation (IISWC) on 21st June 2024. During celebration available Scientist, Staff, project staff, contractual staff including In-Plant Trainee students from BCKV, West Bengal and GIFT, Gunupur. All are actively participated in this celebration and learned the benefits of yoga. Dr Jotirmayee Lenka, Scientist addressed the benefits of yoga and made Practice of yoga systematically along with Smt. H.N. Lakra, AAO, Smt. Arnapurna Nayak, Asst. Sh. R. Siva Prasad, UDC, Sh. Surender Kumar, Tech. Asst., Sh. Dibakar Jena, T-1, Sh. Anjeet Kumar and Sh. Pradeep Kumar, T-1.
International Yoga Day on 21-06-2024 was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. The programme began with invocation song and lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman, Head of the centre introduced and gave a warm welcome to the chief guest of the day Ms. Sudha B., Professional Yoga Trainer and Practitioner. The briefing about the programme was done by Dr. SM Vanitha, Senior Scientist. Dr Somasundaram Jayaraman addressed the gathering and said; yoga not only provides physical fitness but also gives mental wellness and spiritual strength. It controls stress and heals the body from many kinds of illness. He requested all to practise yoga regularly to lead a peaceful, happy and healthy life. The guest of honour Ms. Sudha B elaborately gave a lecture on the uses and advantages of yoga practising in our day-to-day life. She also advised the right way of practicing yoga and their health benefits. Yoga as the solution for many diseases, stress buster, activates the organs and increases both inner and outer beauty of human being satisfying body, mind and soul. She also explained 8 different parts of yoga and their uses and importance in our life. A practical yoga demonstration session was conducted by her for the faculty of the centre & student trainees with total participants of around 60, and the programme ended by the vote of thanks to all by Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman, Head of the centre, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. S. M. Vanitha, Senior Scientist (Ag. Econ.), ICAR-IISWC, RC, Udhagamandalam under the guidance of Head of the centre.
